About

The back office, handled. The judgment, kept.

Canadian charities and public agencies spend an enormous share of their energy on the work around the work — chasing grant deadlines, re-typing the same history into every application, stitching together a mailbox, a drive, and a CRM that were never meant to talk.

WeShield takes that on. It finds the funders that fit you, drafts each application from your own record, and wires up your tools through open connectors. Then it stops at the line that matters: nothing is sent, published, or connected until a person says yes.

What started as that grant back office has grown into a whole family of apps — a resource hub, a clear read on where harm is rising, inter-agency coordination, and WeConnect’s verified network of people — all sharing one foundation: your data in Canada, a record you can check, and the same rule. And it’s open, so communities and partners can build their own.

That rule is the whole product. An agent can draft a grant at three in the morning — it still can’t send it. It lives in the data layer, so it holds even if someone wishes it didn’t.

Where we come from

WeShield is a for-profit spin-off of the Foundation for a Path Forward — a nonprofit that knows this work from the inside. We answer to the mission first, and we built the company so that staying useful to it is the way we stay in business.

What we hold to

01

A human holds the pen

Software should take the dread out of the work — the deadlines, the blank page, the wiring — and then stop. Sending, publishing, and connecting stay with a person. We enforce that in the database, not a settings toggle.

02

Your data stays yours

Everything lives in Canada, at rest and in compute. Connectors pull data in on your terms and let you pull it back out just as fast. Nothing is quietly copied somewhere you can’t see.

03

A record you can check

Every action lands on a record no one can quietly edit — who did what, when, and on whose say-so. Trust shouldn’t mean taking our word for it.

04

Built for the sector, not adapted to it

Charities and public agencies aren’t startups with thinner budgets. The workflows, the obligations, and the stakes are different, so the software is too.

Where it comes from

WeShield grew out of the Foundation for a Path Forward — a non-profit that has spent years doing this work and feeling every inch of the busywork it’s meant to retire. We built the tools we wished we’d had.
